Inuit women
The Inuit are the most widespread and perhaps the best known aboriginal people on earth.〔Morrison, David. 2004. Inuit Culture. In ''The Oxford Companion to Canadian Histor''y. Gerald Hallowell, ed. Oxford: Oxford University Press.〕 As a very large indigenous group inhabiting the Arctic regions of Alaska, Canada, Greenland, and Russia, the Inuit exhibit many variations in cultural practices and customs. In Inuit communities, the women play a crucial role in the survival of the group. Because of this, the women were always given due respect; however, they never received an equal share of power or influence.〔 Recent modernization and urbanization has transformed traditional Inuit culture and, by extension, the role of women and their influence in the culture. These changes have had positive and negative impacts on the overall well-being of Inuit women.〔 ==Role in society==
